Layer the chickpeas, diced tomatoes, and sliced onions in the bottom of a crockpot.
1 15 oz can chickpeas, 1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes with chilies, 1 medium red onion
Lay the chicken quarters on top of the onion layer.

Sprinkle the chicken with salt, pepper, turmeric, and chili powder.
1-2 tsp turmeric, 2-3 tbsp chili powder, Salt and pepper to taste
If desired, add a little water or white wine for extra moisture. Note that this step is optional, as the chicken will release its own juices during cooking.
Optional: 1/4 cup dry or semi-dry white wine
Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
